i recently launched a NEW BLOG - a mash up of whats up, what it is, whats more, GlobaLove Think Tank, stuff from my inbox & more - what next RC'S NEWS & RANDOM blog

whats up is now called "nuclear blog" - i started whats up in March of 2011 for miscellaneous news and random postings which don't fall under the photo or art & studies themes of my other two blogs ... includes a number of newsfeeds and a videos page. launched on the day of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

After the first few posts it became basically a news blog about the ongoing Fukushima Nuclear Catastrophe with related nuclear news and commentary - not so random anymore, and it became progressively more activist...

what next is now where the miscellaneous news and random postings will land, and whats up will remain dedicated to nuclear news

The "outer building" surrounding Unit 3 of Fukushima I explodes, presumably due to the ignition of built up hydrogen gas (March 13). This is the reactor which has the extremely dangerous plutonium-laced MOX fuel. State of the nuclear reactor core remains unknown... (photo enhanced for contrast and enlargement with several layers of noise, sharpening and blurring)

Instead of a story or plot, the film uses themes to present new perspectives and evoke emotion purely through cinema. I especially enjoyed these scenes of jetjak in Bali, and of a monk walking a busy city sidewalk in Japan.

The title Baraka is a word that means blessing in a multitude of languages.

1st ANNUAL SONOMA MANDALA BAZAAR
September 4, 2010

A day on the Mountain! Local vendors and artists offered comtemporary pottery, paintings, photographs and textile art; homemade cookies, pies, baked goods, sumptuous foods and refreshing drinks under the oaks. Included special performances and demonstrations of taiko drumming, traditional Japanese tea ceremony, shakuhachi flute, koto stringed instrument and Kyudo "the way of the bow." ~ Sonoma Mountain Zen Center = smzc.net.

Jakusho Kwong-roshi, abbot of Sonoma Mountain Zen Center, has long envisioned creating a Mandala of buildings on Sonoma Mountain to continue Shunryu Suzuki-roshi’s lineage and support authentic practice, dedicated to the protection and awakening of all beings, for the next three hundred years.

Akemi Zoshi, Ten Ten Taiko

Sonoma Mountain Zen Center was formed by Jakusho Kwong-roshi in 1973 to continue the Soto Zen lineage of Shunryu Suzuki-roshi and to make everyday Zen available to people in Sonoma County. We are situated on 80 acres of rolling hills and mountainous land, located 11 miles from the town of Santa Rosa. Our sangha consists of a small residence and a larger membership that joins us in Zen practice from the local area, as well as other parts of the United States and Europe.
